love this card

This is one of the card swaps from convention that I love. Isn't the wood grain background perfect for this cute little bird? The leaves coming from the branch he is sitting on are cut from the Little Leaves Sizzlet die available from Stampin' Up! The birds body was created using the 1 3/8" circle punch, and the scallop circle punch - very clever.
Here are my instructions from a previous post on how to get a wood grain look for your cards. Use a toothbrush - preferably an old one - along with some stamp pad re inkers, a ruler and a marker. Apply a few drops of each colour on a flat surface such as a paper plate etc. Take your toothbrush and dip into the lightest colour first. Then just drag it in a vertical or horizontal line depending on which way you want your wood panels to run, across your card stock. Take your next colour, and so on until the desired look is achieved. When dry, take your ruler and marker, then draw your lines representing the "boards", and don't forget your nails!

Give this technique a try, you will be surprised how easy it is.

Stay tuned!
