Thanks so much to those of you who commented on my envelope scrapbook! I originally found the tutorial on Paula Goff's blog post (July 10th 2008), but am always willing to share details on any of my projects - all you have to do is ask, and you ladies did!
I started off with a piece of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock scored on the 11" side at 2", 2 1/4", 6 3/4" and 7". Crease your scorelines.
Using my eyelet border punch, I punched along the edge of the 2" wide portion.
Next take your business size envelopes and seal all of them closed. The first envelope you will need to cut at 6" long, the second envelope at 7" long and the third envelope at 8" long. Cover the envelopes front and back with designer paper ( use the dimensions of the envelopes for measurement for cutting as not all envelopes are the same width. Adhere your designer paper to your envelopes front and back.
Next use your 1 1/4" circle punch to cut out a half circle out of the OPEN end of the envelopes.
Now you will need to cut 3 pieces of cardstock 2" x the width of your envelope (mine was 4 1/8"). Then score each piece at 1" and crease well. These are your hinges. This next part sounds tricky but it's not. Refer to my photo above, showing the hinges.
You will now attach the hinges using sticky strip to the envelopes as follows.
Apply adhesive on the BACK of the 6" envelope and attach the hinge. Apply adhesive to the FRONT of the 7" envelope and attach the other side of the hinge leaving about 1/16"" so the hinge will move back and forth easily.
Do the same with the 7" envelope, attaching the one side of the hinge to the BACK of the 7" envelope and the other side of the hinge to the FRONT of the 8" envelope.
The 3rd hinge is adhered to the BACK of the 8" envelope, and the last half of the hinge is adhered to the inside of the cover, centering it between the score lines you made on the cover.
Now for the inserts.
For the 6" envelope mine were cut to 3 7/8"" x 5 3/4".
The 7" envelope,3 7/8" x 6 3/4".
The 8" envelope, 3 7/8" x 7 3/4".
Using your round tab punch, cut out 3 tabs, score and crease well.
Adhere the tabs to the inserts, and place inside the corresponding envelopes.
We are almost done!
Lastly, is the belly band to hold the scrapbook closed.
Cut a piece of cardstock 11" x 2". Score at 3", 3 1/4", 7 3/4" and 8" and crease well.
Apply some sticky strip to the inside of one of the ends and attach. You should be able to slip the belly band on and off easily.
That's it! Have fun with this project and if you have ANY questions regarding my instructions, please don't hesitate to ask. Refer to the photos on my previous post for assistance.
Send me an email with your jpeg photo of your creation, I would love to see them!
