I have always been a sock monkey fan, so when Stampin' Up! came out with this stamp set for the new catalogue, was I delighted!
Here's how I created this card.
To give him an authentic look, I used my Canvas background stamp inked with Close To Cocoa and stamped on a sheet of Whisper White card stock. Then, I inked up the monkey stamp with some Chocolate Chip and stamped over top of the canvas-look image I stamped previously. Taking my small, sharp scissors I carefully cut out the image of the monkey.
Now, I had a monkey totally covered in a pattern. What I wanted was for him to have white paws (do monkey's have paws?), tail and butt. So I stamped out another monkey image on white card stock and cut out those pieces and applied them with my 2-way glue pen over the patterned appendages. This process is called paper piecing.
To finish him off I used my 1/2" circle punch to give him a red mouth. His party balloon is also paper pieced using the new Bella Rose designer paper. I did the same for the hat - stamping in Red Riding Hood ink with a Boho Backgrounds stamp. Then stamping the hat in Chocolate Chip and cutting it out.
One of the new punches from Stampin' Up! is the Scallop Edge punch. I used this one for the scalloped layer and then mini-ticket punched the corners with a 1/4" circle punch.
I really enjoyed making this card and you will too!
Have a great day and stay tuned!
