a new technique

I wanted to try a new technique today, and the chalkboard technique was the one I decided on. It is really quite easy to do - and fun! I started out with a dark coloured card stock. I opted for chocolate chip - and stamped my image in whisper white craft ink.

Before the ink dried, I got out my pastels and blew off the dust. Honestly, I don't use them very often. Using my sponge dauber - it's a little round sponge on the end of an applicator which fits over your finger - I rubbed my dauber into the orange pastel colour, and then applied it over the white ink that I just stamped. Taking a different dauber, I rubbed it into the green pastel and again applied this colour to the stem covering all of the white ink. Try not to get too much excess pastel outside of the image, but if you do, take a swiffer cloth and very lightly brush it off. Don't apply too much pressure when doing this otherwise you may streak the ink underneath which leaves a mark that will not come off. I learned this through experience.

Now I am quite excited about using my pastel chalks again! Try this technique, I think you will be quite impressed with your work!
